Megan Lloyd, Design Support Lead, Earns WELL AP Credential

Synergy, a Henricksen Company is proud to announce that Megan Lloyd, Design Support Lead, has earned her WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) Credential.

The WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) credential signifies expertise in the WELL Building Standard (WELL) and a commitment to enhancing human health and wellness in the built environment. The WELL Building Standard is the first building standard to focus on the health and wellness of building occupants, and was designed using evidence-based medical and scientific research to help companies provide their employees with built environments that better support human health and well-being. The WELL AP credential is awarded to those who successfully pass the WELL AP exam. Organizations everywhere – from startups to Fortune 500s – use the WELL Building Standard to prioritize the health and safety of their people, maximize real estate value, and optimize the human and social capital performance of their business. As a WELL Accredited Professional, Megan will serve as a valuable resource for clients and A&D members pursuing WELL Certification for their projects. Her thorough understanding of the WELL Building Standard equips her in specifying furniture that can help satisfy its various initiatives.

With Megan’s expertise and guidance, Synergy, a Henricksen Company has eagerly begun to implement WELL Building Standard concepts and features into our own showroom locations, with the hopes that we can increase awareness around healthy practices that can improve people’s experiences when in the built environment:

  • Selecting products that accommodate a wide range of user preferences and work styles

  • Providing indirect connection to nature through the usage of biophilic elements

  • Supporting our employees with a flex day with which they can work in a remote location of their choice every week

  • Offering a supportive environment through various lighting options (daylighting, ambient, task), healthy nourishment choices, and dynamic furnishings that encourage movement

We are incredibly proud of Megan’s hard work and dedication towards obtaining her WELL AP Credential, and are excited for how it will deepen Synergy, a Henricksen Company’s commitment to promoting sustainability, health, and well-being in the built environment.

Megan is based out of our Knoxville, TN location and serves as our Design Support Lead, focusing on discovering new ways to further streamline our design process and serving as a valuable resource for our design team members. Read more about Megan →

WELL outlines key building-level and organizational strategies across 10 categories:

  • The mechanical ventilation system uses outdoor air and internal CO2 sensors to remove toxins from the internal environment, helping improve indoor air quality.

  • The integrative design process incorporates feedback from all stakeholders, leading to workspaces that allow for many different working styles and helping improve collaboration.

  • Natural lighting and an indirect electric lighting design creates a balanced and well-lit space, promoting a productive work environment. A circadian lighting design changes color temperature and intensity throughout the day, supporting employees' overall health.

  • Interior paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, flooring and furniture include low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), helping to improve air quality.

  • Plants, nature and biophilic elements are incorporated into design, improving the aesthetics, helping to boost morale and decreasing negative health effects.

  • Active design elements - such as benches, plazas, and gardens - encourage frequent pedestrian activity and support active lifestyles.

  • An on-site café offers a variety of healthy food options with high nutritional value and clearly labelled ingredients, helping make the healthy choice the easy choice.

  • White noise machines address background distractions, helping to increase privacy levels. Quiet rooms, soundproof booths, and atrium spaces contribute to peaceful and individual work spaces.

  • Chilled beam systems throughout the space offer optimal noise, spatial and thermal comfort for employees, promoting productivity. These systems also achieve dry cooling without any condensation, ensuring low humidity levels and improving air quality.

  • Water filters and testing ensure that water meets the World Health Organization (WHO) thresholds, helping to improve water quality.
